Sticker Shock Campaign
Third Annual Sticker Shock campaign promoting "Those Who Host Lose the Most."
Peer Leaders from our Youth Subcommittee are gearing up for another successful Sticker Shock event. They will be going door to door to Buckeye alcohol retailers and asking them to place “Those who host lose the most: Prevent, don’t provide alcohol to anyone under 21” stickers, posters and table tents in their store or place of business to encourage parents and adults to not provide alcohol to minors. For more information contact Jillian Laham at JLaham@youthetc.org.
Speaking with our Peer Leaders:
Why are you looking forward to Sticker Shock? "Because you get to have the experience of feeling like you are changing the world for the better." -Sharon, youth “To spread the information about how to prevent underage drinking.” –Lexi, youth
Why is underage drinking bad? “Because you will get into bad habits when you grow up.” -Kassidy, youth “Underage drinking is bad because it influences our youth to thinking it is okay. It will corrupt their minds and life.” -Allyssa, youth “Drinking in general, there’s just no point to it. If you’re underage and are just doing it to be cool, there’s really no point.” –Naomi, youth Why is open communication important between parents and kids? “So you understand consequences of drinking and why it’s bad for you and you can die from it.” –Sharon, youth “Most parents bring it up because they don’t want us doing the same things they did and ruining our lives.” –Lexi, youth “Family conversation time is a good thing because it helps unite the family and it lets the children feel better about opening up to their parents. To feel they can tell their parents anything.” –Allyssa, youth
